Such was the case with Henry Ford's Ford 999 Racer, which many consider to be the starting point of America's fascination with racecars. At a production cost of $5,000, this model didn't have a body, a transmission, or even a steering wheel, but it was certainly one of a kind, setting the standard for racing speed and performance. In today's dollars, this model would have cost around $120,000 to create. Hats off to you, Henry Ford, for making that commitment to innovation.
