The Ford Motor Company is about engineering, manufacturing and marketing. In 1900, most of the wealthy owned horse carriages.

How did Henry Ford show that operation of an automobile was cheaper than operation of a horse carriage?
The original cost for a Ford car was about $1,000 in 1900. If you added operation, new tires, paint and repairs, it would be $364 more. The total for car operation would be $1,364.
The purchase of a horse was cheaper at $500 but maintenance was more expensive. If you kept a horse for five years, it would cost $1,200. You also needed to repair and maintain the carriage for $480. The total for horse carriage operation would be about $2,180.
Because Ford understood economics, mechanics and people, he was able to create the 2016 "Most Trusted Brand" of Reader's Digest.
It was not easy, but Ford was dedicated to global success.
